Zen and the Art of HVAC Maintenance

My name is Zachary Layton. I am the owner and operator of Layton Air LLC.

My HVAC journey began in 2009, when I was an aimless teenager in need of direction. My father suggested I spend time working with his longtime friend, Russ B., the owner of Second Opinion Air Conditioning in Tempe, Arizona. I started as a go-fer — hauling tools and materials, cleaning up job sites, and organizing the van. Over time, I began absorbing the knowledge of the trade and eventually earned the trust to run service calls independently.

Russ taught me many aspects of air conditioning, but the most valuable lessons weren’t just technical. On long drives between calls and quiet moments on rooftops, he shared insights about life, integrity, and taking pride in doing things the right way — even when no one is watching. Working alongside him taught me to care more about the person behind the problem than the profit behind the repair. His mentorship instilled patience, precision, and respect for both the craft and the customer.

In recent years, Russ has chosen to spend his days with family and grandchildren instead of in hot, dusty attics — though he’s still only a phone call away when I run into a challenging issue.

That is why I established Layton Air LLC — to carry forward the honest workmanship, personal service, and care for customers that first taught me the trade, and to ensure that level of quality remains available in today’s HVAC market. We stand out through personal accountability, fair pricing, and a commitment to genuine service. When you call, you speak directly with the technician who will diagnose and resolve your HVAC issues — no sales pressure, no middlemen. Just honest work from someone who treats your home with respect.

We want you to feel like you have a friend in the HVAC business — someone who offers straightforward advice, guides you through your options, and helps without upselling.

A Personal Note

As a small business owner, I genuinely appreciate every customer who chooses to support Layton Air. When you trust me with your home and comfort, I don’t take that lightly. Your support allows me to do work I’m proud of, grow a business built on integrity, and provide for the people who matter most in my life.

I’m also a husband to a wonderful wife and a father to three amazing children. Building Layton Air isn’t just about fixing air conditioners — it’s about building something lasting for my family and serving my community with honesty and care. I’m grateful for every opportunity to earn your trust and your business.
